Is Oscar François de Jarjayes from Rose of Versailles based on a real person?
I have been watching the excellent anime Rose of Versailles.Really epic stuff!
Iam wondering, is the protagonist Oscar Francoise loosely based on a real person?For those who never heard of Rose of Versailles, here is an article its a historical Manga taking place around the time period of the French Revolution.I do know that Oscar Francoise’s father, General Reynier de Jarjayes,was a real general from the time period.
Iam wondering, is there anybody the creator Riyoko Ikeda used as a model for the Oscar character?
He wasn’t based on any particular person. But Ikeda was a fan of Takarazuka theater where women played all the roles including the men. This was where he got the gender bending aspect from. Oscar was named after Oscar Wilde.
